Why I Started Blogging & What Keeps Me Going (featuring Vistaprint)

This post is in partnership with PRIMP Network and Vistaprint. All opinions are my own.

As many of you know, I've been blogging for a few years now, and it's become such a huge part of my life! I feel like I haven't really talked too much about why I started in the past, so I wanted to dedicate this post to why I decided to start this little blog of mine, and what keeps me going on a day to day basis!

Why I started

I started my blog my freshmen year of college (I'm now going into my senior year) mostly because I wanted a chance to write something that wasn't for school. I've always LOVED to write, and that's also one of the reasons I chose the field of communication and PR. I found myself doing tons of writing for school, which I loved as well, but I really wanted the opportunity to do some creative-type writing for myself.

So, I decided to start a blog on one totally random afternoon. I started my blog thinking no one would ever read it, but as I got into it more, I started doing research about growing your blog. It's not that I wanted to have some huge blog, I just wanted there to be people out their that found my posts helpful. If should one person could read one of my posts and have a better day, or get motivated to study, or do something great for themselves, that's really all I wanted!

I recently took my blog to the next level by creating business cards on Vistaprint. a website that offers custom marketing materials and printed products for business or personal use to fit any style, budget, or occasion! As a blogger, I feel like it's super important to invest in your success. Carrying business cards is something I never did until now, but whenever I tell someone about my blog, they usual ask for the link, so I absolutely love my new Vistaprint business cards for this purpose!

Vistaprint is committed to helping small businesses gain attention (which I think is amazing. Small businesses all the way!). Vistaprint offers services like postcard mailing, email marketing, and even website development/hosting.

It was super important to me to be able to create my own simple, clean design. However, Vistaprint also has pre-made designs that you can use if you'd prefer that! You can upload your own logo or customize any template you like. To top it off, they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee!

What keeps me going

Blogging can definitely be overwhelming at times. When I started my blog, I didn't realize all the potential opportunities that came with blogging (sponsorships, advertisements, other collaborations), as well as the real impact that you can have on real people.

I've been lucky enough to discover these things, but the biggest thing that keeps me going is the readers. It's not uncommon for me to receive an email, or an Instagram DM from someone saying that my post inspired them to study, or do homework when they didn't feel like it. One of the most moving emails I received was from a young girl with a learning disability, who told me that my blog made her believe in herself and believe that she could pursue a college degree. I always think of my blog as a bit of a business, but also something I do for fun. I couldn't be happier that my blog has had an impact on at least a few people who have taken my advice, or felt inspired by something I said.

  2. I'm a blogger aswell, although not as active now as I was one or two years ago. My mental illness has been worse this year and drained me of all my energy. I upload blog posts whenever I get motivated, but I don't push myself too Hard. Hopefully I can go back to daily updates when I'm better!
I really love your blog Hannah, you are such an inspiration!
