5 Things to Do the Night Before For an Easier Morning

Like many other people, I can't say I'm a morning person. Sometimes when that alarm goes off ALL I want to do is stay snuggled in my cozy blankets, but nevertheless, it's time to get up. Something I've done for a long time is preparing the night before when I need to be up and about early for work, class, or other engagements. In this post, I'm talking all about the things I like to do the night before for an easier morning.

Pick out an outfit.

You guys, if I pick out an outfit in the morning, it usually isn't that cute. I'm the type of person that needs to have my outfit fully prepared and ready to go before I even wake up in the morning, or I can't seem to put together a coherent outfit. Especially for my internship, I always want to look top notch, so I never forget to pick out a cute outfit the night before!

Pack a lunch/snacks if needed.

If you're going to work or have a full day of classes and need to pack a lunch, packing it the night before is a lifesaver. Packing a lunch was always a quick afterthought for me, and I'd end up throwing together some random (probably unhealthy) combination before running out the door.

I've been loving preparing my lunch the night before and just leaving it in the fridge together overnight, then I can quickly put it in my lunch box in the morning and I'm good to go.

Wash your dishes in the sink.

I know cleaning dirty dishes before you go to bed is probably the LAST thing you want to do, but in the morning, it will literally be the last, LAST, last thing you want to do. That's why I like to get it done the night before!

Plus, I'm kind of crazy and I hate seeing dirty dishes in the sink. I know I won't be able to leave them in the morning, so I just like to do it the night before and it helps a lot!

Get to bed early.

It's hard sometimes, for real. When I want to stay up later and watch Netflix or YouTube later than I should, I always remember that it'll be that much harder to wake up in the morning. Personally, I need my 8 hours of sleep, so I try to get to bed at least 8 hours before I know I need to wake up.

If I go to bed with running thoughts, it's harder for me to fall asleep, meaning I'll wake up more tired. I love to relax before bed, so I'll try to get in bed at least a half hour before I want to go to sleep so I can watch an episode of a funny Netflix show or something.

It can be hard to fall asleep after a long or stressful day, so I like to just take a few minutes to relax and get sleepy before I go to sleep.

What do you like to do the night before for an easier morning?

  1. Great tips! I find that picking out my outfit the night before is especially important for me. If I wait, not only will it likely be less than stellar like you say, but it'll also put me in a bad mood for the hours to come. I also like to pack my bag the night before if it's for school!
