5 Things You Should Do Every Morning

I feel like the morning sets the tone for the day. The morning is the perfect time to get your day started on a positive note. There are little things I like to do every morning to make sure that I'm refreshed and ready for the day ahead. I've come up with a little list of things you should do every morning to ensure that your day gets off to a good start!

1. Read inspirational quotes

I've always heard that it's not good to go on social media right when you wake up. However, there's one particular social media outlet that I feel always inspires me... Pinterest! I love to browse my Pinterest in the morning, specifically for inspirational quotes. You've probably seen some of my favorite finds on my Instagram story!

Reading inspiring quotes in the morning always puts me in a good mood so I can start things off on a positive note. 

2. Set your alarm extra early

There's nothing I hate more than feeling rushed in the morning (or ever). Rushing always puts me in a negative mood and I end up forgetting important things because I'm trying to move so quickly. I love to set my alarm just early enough so that I can have a leisurely morning without being rushed.

There's nothing more relaxing than watching your favorite Netflix show, a few YouTube videos, or even journaling in the morning while you have your tea or coffee!

3. Drink some water

I used to be SO bad about this, and I still am sometimes. Something that really helps me drink water in the morning is adding some ice cubes and lemon to my water! I adore lemon water, and it's super refreshing in the morning. I find that a cold glass of lemon water really wakes me up and gets my body hydrated to start off the day.

I read somewhere that if you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated! It's always a good idea to drink water in the morning, as your body needs it to wake up and rehydrate after a good night's sleep. I'm so weird and I love to drink out of these straws.. :)

4. Plan out your day

Planning out my day has become an essential part of my morning routine. It always helps motivate me and helps me visualize exactly what I have to do that day. Especially when I know it's going to be a busy day, it really helps me see my plans and it doesn't feel so overwhelming. 

Planning has become somewhat therapeutic for me. Going into my planner and color coding and checking off items have that already been completed just feels so good!

5. Eat a nourishing breakfast

It's true guys... breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Especially in college, I've noticed that tons of people just flat out skip breakfast?! I definitely do not recommend skipping breakfast (or skipping meals in general). Breakfast gets your metabolism going for the day and starts things off on a good note.

I love to have either oatmeal, eggs, or yogurt + fruit and granola in the morning. I'm not usually super hungry, but I always make sure to have something healthy that's going to keep my full until it's time for lunch.
