Tips for a Stress Free Holiday Season

It's no secret that the holidays can be a stressful time for everyone. With Christmas shopping, work, school work, family gatherings, etc., sometimes it can be hard to find time to just breathe. I wanted to share some tips for living stress free this holiday season so you can enjoy the holidays with family and friends!

Get your Christmas shopping done early

I always love to get my Christmas shopping done as early as possible (and no, I'm not one of those people doing their Christmas shopping in August, but hopefully someday...). When I say "early," I mean November/early December. Last minute Christmas shopping is a HUGE stressor. 
What if they're sold out of what I need? What if I can't find the right gift? Just get it out of the way and life will be a whole lot easier!

Take time for yourself

The holidays are filled with gatherings and fun holiday events, but it's important to remember that you need time for yourself too.

One of the best ways for me to ensure that I take time for myself each day is to set aside time each morning to relax and just wake up. I hate being rushed in the morning, so I wake up to give myself enough time to get ready slowly and enjoy the beginning of my day.

The first part of my morning routine (and probably most important part of my relaxing morning routine, let's be honest) always involves COFFEE. I like to then sit down at my desk and do some planning for the day. I write down anything that I know needs to be done and then identify the most important, top priority things. I'll then usually watch a few YouTube videos. I don't really like to start with the news at the beginning of the day... I find it a bit depressing. I'll typically complete my morning routine before heading to the news app on my phone to see what's happening.

Having this time in the morning really helps me ensure that I have time for myself every single day. Sometimes just sitting, sipping my coffee, and watching a vlog or reading some of my favorite blogs is my favorite part of the day!

Eat healthy and exercise to minimize feelings of guilt

We all feel a little bit guilty after our massive Thanksgiving feast or our Christmas Eve dinner. But wouldn't you rather just enjoy it?

I always feel like if I exercise regularly and try to eat relatively healthy, I feel a lot less guilty after eating Thanksgiving pies or Christmas Eve dinner.

I've been doing a lot of pilates lately because it's such an amazing workout and I can do it right from my bedroom!

Plan ahead

Hosting a holiday party? Going away to visit family? If you plan things out, you won't have to stress. Plan when you'll do your Christmas shopping, when you'll wrap your gifts, when you'll pack up your things if you're heading elsewhere during Christmas break, etc. The more you plan, the less stressed out you'll be.
