How to Keep Up With Your Blog When You're Busy


You guys know I love to talk about blogging! I've talked about everything from branding your blog to monetizing your blog because I always get emails asking me how I do it. Today I wanted to discuss something very near and dear to my heart: how to keep up with your blog when you're busy. As many of you know, I'm a college blogger. Something you may not know though, is that along with being a college student and blogger, I'm also an PR intern and the President of an organization on campus. Sometimes things get really overwhelming when I feel like I have too much going on. I've come up with a few amazing ways to keep up with my blog when I just have too much to do, and I'm sharing those today!

Schedule your blog posts in advance

Okay, when I know I have a particularly busy week coming up, I'll write ALL my posts for that week in advance and schedule them to go live throughout the week. That way, I don't even have to think about creating content if my schedule is jam packed. Everything is already written, edited, and ready to go!

Even if you think you're going to have time to write blog posts, it never hurts to schedule in advance. If you end up having time to write out some new content, you can schedule that for the next week. Getting ahead is key when you live a busy lifestyle. 

Schedule your social media content

When we have a lot going on, sometimes posting on social media is the LAST thing on our minds. I particularly like to schedule my Facebook posts (something I'm trying to be more consistent about). Facebook already has a built in feature to schedule your posts, so it's super convenient to do so.

You can use apps like Hootsuite to schedule content for platforms like Twitter and Instagram. I try not to be completely absent from social media as a blogger, even when I am really busy.

Being able to schedule both your social media content and your blog content is a HUGE stress reliever. 

Keep a running list of post ideas

So you're overwhelmed and you didn't manage to get everything scheduled for the week. To avoid that "ahhhh" moment when I don't know what to write about, I always keep a running list of blog post ideas in the notes app on my phone. This way I can just pull from the list when I need a quick idea and don't have a whole lot of time to brainstorm. 


I feel like ideas tend to pop into my head at the weirdest times, and I don't always have my laptop, or even a notebook to jot down the idea. I do, however, always have my phone. I'll just quickly write down the idea and save it for later.

Take a break if you need it

There's times when you just don't have enough hours in the day. Personally, I'm all for taking a break if you need it. Yes, if you plan to treat your blog like a business, you have to be consistent. But that shouldn't be at the expense of your sanity.

If you need to take a step back from blogging to fulfill other obligations in your life, that's okay.
