The holiday season is my favorite time of year to experiment with different makeup looks. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I love the fact that it's acceptable to be a little bolder with your makeup during the fall and winter months. With the holidays coming up quickly, I thought it would be the perfect time to share this easy sparkling makeup tutorial that is perfect for the cooler months and the upcoming holidays!

Prep

I've always had really sensitive eyes, so before applying my eyeshadow, I love to use eyedrops to ensure that my eyes are super white and clear. Your eyes are noticed by everyone, so it's important to take care of them and make sure they look good! I've noticed that whenever I wear a slightly more dramatic eyeshadow look, people tend to notice my eyes more. For this look, I picked up the Clear Eyes® Pure Relief™ for Dry Eyes at Target, a product from the #1 selling brand of eyedrops!

Most eyedrops contain preservatives in order to keep bacteria from growing inside the bottle, but some people are sensitive to these preservatives. Preservative free eyedrops do exist, but they're extremely expensive and sold in inconvenient single-dose bottles. Clear Eyes® Pure Relief™ for Dry Eyes is a revolutionary solution to this problem, and they are the first preservative free eyedrops in a multi-dose bottle at retail in the U.S. These eyedrops have a built in purifying filter that keeps out bacteria, so you don't have to worry about bacteria inside the bottle. This product is perfect for my dry eyes since it's a lubricant drop (also known as artificial tears).

I love that the Clear Eyes® Pure Relief™ for Dry Eyes is preservative free, as doctors actually recommend preservative free drops for dry eyes. Not only is this product great for dry eyes, but the drops provide up to 12 hours of lasting comfort, so you'll be comfortable all day! The eyedrops are formulated with Sodium Hyalouronate, which is a form of Hyaluranic Acid, for advanced comfort.

1. Apply an eyeshadow base

After prepping my eyes with the Clear Eyes® Pure Relief™ for Dry Eyes, I like to apply an eyeshadow base before starting the eyeshadow look to ensure that my eyeshadow lasts all day.

2. Apply a matte warm toned brown shade to the crease as your transition shade

I find that using a transition shade makes all the shadows blend together more easily. I always use a matte warm toned brown shade and apply the shade with a fluffy brush into the crease of my eye.

3. Apply a copper toned shimmery shade to the lid

I love the holiday season because I'm able to wear shimmery eyeshadows more often. My favorite shimmery shadows are copper toned shades because I find that they really make my eyes pop. I pat the shadow all over my lid with a flat eyeshadow brush until the shimmery shade is completely opaque on my lid.

4. Deepen the outer "v" of your eye with a deep brown shade

I always like to apply a darker brown shade to the outer "v" of my eye in order to elongate my eyes. This also makes the look a bit more dramatic for the holiday season. I typically use a matte shade to deepen the crease, but feel free to use a any shimmery dark brown eyeshadow, as this will look just as good and may even be a bit more fun!

And...

Blend everything together with a blending brush

It's always important to make sure all your shadows are blended seamlessly and there are no harsh lines. You can do this by simply taking any fluffy crease brush and gently swiping through the crease of your eyelid to blend out any harsh lines.

5. Apply a shimmery shadow to highlight the inner corners of your eyes and your brow bone

I'm basically addicted to highlights, so whatever eyeshadow look I'm doing, I like to apply a highlight shade to my inner corners and brow bone. This always brightens up the whole look!

(Optional) Apply winged eyeliner

I rarely wear winged eyeliner, but the holiday season is the perfect time to show off your winged eyeliner skills. This shimmery look would look great with a dramatic wing or a more subtle wing.

6. Apply mascara

Lastly, apply your favorite mascara to finish off this sparkling makeup look for the holiday season! I always apply a few coats of mascara to accentuate my shimmy, clear eyes.

Do you guys also suffer from dry eye? And what are your favorite makeup looks for the holiday season?
