College Makeup Organization (Tips & Tricks!) - Honestly Hannah

College Makeup Organization (Tips & Tricks!)

When I went off to college, I really made sure to only take the makeup that I felt like I needed. Honestly, I probably still brought too much, but I've organized it in a way that it doesn't take up too much space. I love the way I have everything organized because I can easily find whatever I need quickly. I'm excited to share my simple makeup organization for college, and also give you guys some tips on how to store all your makeup properly and efficiently!

Here is an overview of my makeup organization:

Tip 1: Get an acrylic makeup organizer

As you can see, it pretty much takes up the back of the desk. I don't find that my makeup storage gets in the way, and t never bothers me to have everything on display. In fact, I love that I can easily see everything I have and find everything quickly. These acrylic makeup organizers are an absolute life saver when it comes to storing your makeup in college. They really condense everything and fit so much stuff inside, even though they look small.

On the top of my makeup organizer, I have my foundations, primers, and setting sprays. This small compartment fits the essential everyday face products that would end up taking up a lot of room in the drawers. The makeup organizer also has sections made specifically for lipsticks, so I store all my favorite lip products in these spaces so they're easily accessible. In the back compartments, I typically keep a few Q-tips, my eyelash curler, and my sharpeners.

Tip 2: Lay smaller, circular lipsticks/concealers in a drawer together

My lipsticks and concealers share this drawer because they're basically the same shape. I can open the drawer and see every product and grab whatever I need as quickly as possible. As you can see, I only have two liquid liners, so I put those in there as well.

Tip 3: Place powder products together

Powder products typically come in round containers that can be easily stacked. My bottom two drawers are filled with blushes, bronzers, face powder, and highlighter. This draw contains my blushes, and a random Wet N' Wild Eyeshadow Palette.

This draw has some more powder products, and it contains bronzers, face powder, contour products, and another random eyeshadow trio (this one from Smashbox)

Tip 4: Store mascaras, eyebrow pencils, eyeliner, and lipliner together in a cup

This small glass jar is home to my mascaras, eyebrow pencils, eyeliners, and lipliners. There's really no rhyme of reason to this section, other than the fact that all these products seemed to fit nicely in this jar. I thought the jar was cute and would look nice with some products displayed in it. It's a great way to store these products since you can see everything!

Tip 5: Condense your brushes to one cup

I can't be the only one who had to get rid of some makeup brushes prior to college... right? For some reason, I had accumulated a lot of extra makeup brushes that I didn't need. I would recommend just bringing brushes that you actually use on a regular basis to college. Having a huge makeup brush collection takes up a lot of space, and there's really only a few brushes you need.

Tip 6: Store makeup palettes in letter holders

This is a relatively new discovery for me, and I'm absolutely obsessed. Any letter holder will do just fine, but I love this one because it's a bit more decorative and has a really cute design. You can also fit more than one makeup palette in each space, so if you have more than a few palettes they will still fit!

Tip 7: Get a container for your beauty sponge

Last year, I just left my beauty sponge on my desk, but I decided that I needed something to put it in. You can either DIY it or find a cute beauty sponge stand on Etsy!
